November 18, 2018 Healing Heroes

“Equality” first arrived at Odyssey House in the fall of 2014. She did not have any children with her. ‘Equality’ has suffered severe PTSD as a result of abuse endured over many years. ‘Equality’ worked with Odyssey House’s Community Support Team to obtain an Emergency Protection Order. She also attended self-esteem group to regain confidence in herself. ‘Equality’ applied for fleeing abuse fund through Alberta Works with the help of Odyssey House staff. ‘Equality’ connected with our Trauma Counsellor’s to over come her PTSD. She was also struggling with addiction and secured a bed at a treatment Center out of Grande Prairie. ‘Equality‘ attended knitting classes at Odyssey to help her cope. After Equality completed treatment, she secured housing in Grande Prairie. ‘Equality’ states that “staff was extremely helpful and with Odyssey House she would be lost”. She is currently attending groups and maintaining her relationship with Odyssey House’ Trauma Counsellor Team. To this day, ‘Equality’ has maintained a sober and healthy life! #sundaysuccessstories Thank you to the real life women behind “Equality”who share their stories.
