The 2nd Annual Evening of Empowerment

On Friday October 12th 2018 Odyssey House hosted it’s second annual Evening of Empowerment. We had over 200 members of the Grande Prairie Community in attendance, celebrating the work we do at Odyssey House and learning how to make an impact in shifting the needle towards ending gender-based violence! The evening began with a delicious meal and lived experience speaker Kathleen Avery sharing her incredible powerful story. Kathleen Avery was considered to have one of the strongest impacts of the evening speaking with raw honesty & bravery. Followed by Holly Critchton author of “No way to run” a Mother and Son story of surviving abuse. Holly is locally respected and we are incredibly grateful that she agreed to come and share her story and her novel for purchase with the event. She donated a percentage of her book sales back to Odyssey House. The final keynote speaker of the evening was gender-based violence specialist Farrah Khan. Thank you to all the organizations and individuals bid on our silent auction and stayed to enjoy the dance!
