Childcare Support Manager (Maternity Leave)

At Odyssey House, our vision is to help women and children break free from the cycle of family violence. As a member of our team, you will help to ensure consistent implementation of agency policies and procedures and ensure all staff, residents and clients are cared for.

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the main objective of the Childcare Support Manager is to coordinate and manage assigned programming and services of the Grande Prairie Women’s Residence Association with the goal of implementing and upholding the vision and mission of the association. The Childcare Manager is directly responsible for the supervision, training, mentoring and performance reviews of the Childcare Support Workers and Out of School Youth Worker. The Childcare Manager will collaborate with the community and staff to ensure best practice implementation and operation of in-house services and programs.

Responsibilities

· Assist in the hiring of new employees and on-going performance management

· Work to develop supportive relationships within a trauma informed lens

· Review and approve time cards of Childcare employees

· Support and promote staff professional development

· Knowledge of the Alberta Child Care Accreditation process and standards

· Knowledge of Children’s First Legislation and Children’s Services regulations

· Ensure all reporting and documentation is accurate, non-judgmental, culturally-inclusive, trauma-informed, women-centered and up to date

· Work to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents, volunteers, and colleagues

· Ensure that families are supported by providing supports, referrals, and advocacy to meet the needs of each family’s situation and that adequate discharge planning is in place

· Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure best service delivery

· Assist in the development and facilitation of programming

Qualifications

The successful applicant will possess one or more of the following:

· Early Leaning Child Care diploma

· Child and Youth Care degree or diploma

· Alberta Teaching certificate

· Bachelor of Social Work degree

· Previous experience in a supervisory role considered an asset

Skills

The successful applicant will possess the following:

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Creativity and energy

· Good organizational and time management skills

· Knowledge of family violence

· Strong communication skills, written and spoken

· Mentoring and coaching skills

· Strong knowledge of social service community agencies and protocols for referrals
