Serenity Place

When shelter is just the start.
Freedom from violence is a long journey. A short stay in an emergency shelter is often not enough time to heal, rebuild, and prepare for independence. That’s why Serenity Place was created, a second-stage supportive housing program designed for women and their children who are moving forward after experiencing domestic abuse.
Serenity Place is a 14-unit apartment building offering 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom suites, including flexible unit options. Each apartment is fully furnished with everything needed to create a safe home—furniture, bedding, dishes, and more. Rent is geared to income (30% of earnings or Alberta Works Core Shelter rates) and includes heat, water, and power. Pets are welcome, as we recognize their importance in family healing and stability.
Unlike market housing, Serenity Place offers structured support and clear guidelines to ensure the safety, privacy, and well-being of all residents and staff. Families also have access to a wide range of supports, including counselling, life-skills training, collective kitchens, and childcare assistance.
Applications to Serenity Place are accepted through Odyssey House Emergency Shelter or a recognized community agency. Self-referrals are not accepted, as this process ensures all applicants have first received crisis support and are connected to the resources they need.
At Serenity Place, we believe recovery takes time. Our goal is to provide the stability, safety, and support women need to build a strong and lasting foundation for their future.
