Think Before You Send – Online Safety
Navigating online spaces safely without creating fear.
Service Description
This FREE one (1) hour session explores how youth and young adults (ages 13+) can stay safe, confident, and respectful in today’s digital world. With teens in Canada spending an average of 7–9 hours per day on screens outside of schoolwork, this session focuses on building awareness and practical skills to navigate online spaces safely without creating fear. Participants will learn how to protect their privacy, understand their digital footprint, and make safer choices when using phones, apps, social media, and gaming platforms. The session also breaks down common online risks such as sextortion, grooming, trafficking, and manipulation, helping participants recognize warning signs and understand how these situations can develop. This session also looks at how relationships exist online, including cyberbullying, digital abuse, and consent. Participants will explore how to communicate respectfully, set boundaries, and respond in situations where something doesn’t feel right. Through guided discussion and reflection, participants will leave with practical tools and strategies to protect themselves, support others, and know where to go for help. Topics covered include: • Privacy & Tech Safety (phones, settings, digital footprints) • Risks & Manipulation (sextortion, grooming, trafficking, capping) • Digital Relationships (cyberbullying, abuse, consent) • Safety Strategies, Tools, and Support NOTE: This presentation booking is for within the city of Grande Prairie.
