Shanda Berns

Shanda’s passion for community connection and positive integration is evident in her personal and professional life. Her passion and expertise for community capacity building, systems planning, and gaps analysis are evident in her previous role of 8 years as the Homeless Initiatives Program Specialist for the City of Grande Prairie, alongside other Municipal Government roles focused on building up our community for the better through the roll-out of multiple targeted projects to assist vulnerable populations access services in critical times. Shanda’s current role as the Director of Community Development and Engagement for the Rural Health Professions Action Plan encompasses a multi-faceted, strategic approach to ensuring health care and services stay close to home. In her downtime, Shanda likes to play sports, garden, and go on adventures with her partner Justin, and chow chow, Nova. Shanda is a strong advocate for person-centered services for our vulnerable populations and is looking forward to moving the needle on housing and homelessness with the Grande Prairie Women’s Residence Association!
